International Organizations and Sustainable Tourism – UN 2

Ciao!

How’s your Monday?

Mine is busy, but the mood is high, and I found the time to post for you the sequel of my last post. Never leave something undone ;-)

So, the topic is UN and sustainable tourism. And today’s first topic is The Future We Want. So it’s a good start for the new week, you see!

The Future We Want is a resolution dated July 2012 that defines the general framework within which sustainable development is encouraged. It invites all possible stakeholders to work in favor of the Green Economy, and it lists in which sectors to act and how. In particular, for these latter aspects, it recalls that the General Assembly, the Economic and Social Council, and all the authorities, together with political and financial institutions are to play a role.

Its rage of expected interventions is huge (poverty, food security, access to water, energy policies, sustainable tourism - which is therefore indicated among the priorities independently- sustainable transport networks, cities and various human settlements, health, decent work, oceans and seas, small islands and developing states, countries without access to the sea, the African continent, disaster prevention, climate change, forests , gender equality, biodiversity, desertification, mountains, the chemical and mining sectors, education). It offers therefore an all-round vision of the main challenges that must be faced with due funding, commitment, knowhow.

October 21, 2015 marks the birthday of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the ambitious declaration that has triggered and is triggering a series of initiatives and which has become the reference framework for those working in the sustainability sector. At points 33 and 37 of the Agenda, you can find sport and sustainable tourism, which must progress consistently with the 17 objectives of the agenda. Here we briefly recall the 17 points of Millennium Development:

1) Poverty

2) Hunger

3) Health

4) Education

5) Gender equality

6) Clean water

7) Sustainable energy

8) Employment and working conditions

9) Industry, innovation and infrastructure

10) Reduction of inequalities

11) Sustainable cities and communities

12) Responsible consumption and production

13) Climate action

14) Aquatic life

15) Earth life

16) Peace, justice, strong institutions

17) Cooperation

So I hope you will feel empowered and inspired this week 💪😊
